just wondering if this site has or will have a chat room, it would be cool to have it so users can easily kick it there, they just spice up sites like this x3

Yeah, I have a chat system in the works, but it's not very close to being done. It's been bottle-necked by my knowledge of WebSockets, Pusher, and stuff. It probably won't be finished for a couple more months.

http://www.phpfreechat.net/Since you have proved yourself to be a great Dev, I wonder in the case of a chatroom.. why not just modify a already existing script there are many canned php chat scripts that are open source also reporting a bug :/ since i tried posting that link it did not display the text i wanted and it put it in the wrong place....

then again I have no clue if you are using limited hosting or not, or if you are on your own server.

but my personal comment on this is.. I do not think your site is ready for a chatroom, there are not that many active users at least as I personally can tell.. and from advertising and social networking experience no fewer than 10 hardcore users are required to keep a chat going

ps.sorry if posting here was obtrusive or brash

No, thanks for the insights. I've used PHPFreeChat in the past, but I'm currently using much more up-to-date technologies such as the Laravel Framework, so I'm hand-coding it with the help of whatever things I can find on Packagist or on GitHub that are PSR-1 / PSR-4 compliant. This will make sure the project isn't bogged down with spaghetti code. And I'm using a cloud server instance.

I thought the same thing on the chat - not enough users. But ultimately, I also believe if the site provides any type of real-time interaction, the users will slowly begin to stay online. Right now, without any real-time interaction, the site is somewhat like an email conversation - check for new stuff, reply, and leave.

I agree with Naomi Raine. phpfreechat works well enough, with the traffic on this site 2 - 4  rooms is good enough.  Maybe one just for role play. Make sure it's after the log in. And ADMIN could lock a person out if necessary.
